Ephemera is often created for specific, limited purposes and discarded after it fulfills its function. Despite its transitory nature, ephemera holds important clues about its creators, collectors, and the environment in which it was made. This workshop will discuss the value of ephemera, introduce attendees to the Austin History Center’s ephemera collections, and discuss how to acquire and preserve ephemera in its many formats.

Attendees are encouraged to share their ephemera and request a basic preservation assessment from the facilitator!

Jenna Cooper is the Reference and Access Manager at the Austin History Center. She received her MSIS from The University of Texas at Austin, and for the past decade she has managed City of Austin museum collections, records, and archives with Austin Public Library and the Austin Parks & Recreation Department. Jenna is also an avid genealogist, and has deep roots in the Austin area.
