Join your fellow AGS members for a day at the Clayton Library History Research Center.  The Clayton Library is a FamilySearch Research affiliate.

Consistently named one of the top ten genealogical libraries in the nation — is worth the trip! The Family History Research Center houses a national and international collection of family history research materials in print, microprint and online.

Their professional staff will consult with you one on one discussing your specific research problems. Their goal is to help you navigate their vast international resources, helping you to discover your ancestors!

Itinerary

8:00 am Depart Austin, carpool or individual cars

11:30 am  Library Orientation session

12:00 pm Library Data base orientation

1:00 pm – 5:00 pm Individual Research

5:00 pm Return to Austin

GENEALOGY DATABASES

Access to subscription databases include Ancestry.com, Fold 3, and other premium sources. Some are accessible from home with a HPL MYLink card.

BOOK COLLECTION

An international collection of local record materials including vital records, histories, land records, and cemetery records. This collection houses materials not available online.

FAMILY SEARCH

Free online international collection of digitized books and document resources. The FHRC is a digitization partner and affiliate library of FamilySearch. As an affiliate library, restricted images can be viewed.

DIGITAL ARCHIVES

Find select digital holdings of highly requested photographs, papers, and oral histories. Download collections and save image files for your personal or research use.

The Clayton Library is a Family History library affiliate and can accommodate your advance request to view research data from the Family History Library. 

The Library has 7 personal computers so they encourage you to bring your own laptop.  Also bring a Flash drive if you want to download records and take them with you.

Bring your lunch, drinks and/or snacks as there are no food facilities within walking distance, only concession machines in the Library. 

There are no planned food stops in this Itinerary.  However, depending on whether you choose the IH 10 or HWY 290 route, you may want to stop for dinner on the trip back to Austin.
