A little history of the Cemetery according to Vera Garcia, current caretaker of the Jones Cemetery The Jones family donated the middle part of their land for burial purposes for the people who worked the land in the area. Vera (Ramirez) Garcia’s Great-Grandfather was a gravedigger for the Cemetery. He dug the graves at night until his passing. The caretaker role was passed down through the Ramirez family which now resides with her. All of her relatives and ancestors are interred in the Jones Cemetery.
Notes about the African American section of the Jones Cemetery The African American section of the Jones Cemetery is not clearly identified. I spoke with the current caretaker of the Jones Cemetery, Vera Garcia and she mentioned that she never has seen it, but rumor has it the location of this lost section more than likely was behind the Crematorium to the South West of the Hispanic Section of the cemetery. I did investigate the area a bit and found a circle of stones that may have been the location of the graves, however, there are no markers so this could not be verified. The lost slave section is located in the empty lot across the street from the double wide mobile home 5412 Cadillac Drive.  (2016)
